Laney College Dean’s Medallion Award

The Office of Academic and Student Affairs at Laney College would like to recognize students who exhibit
academic excellence. We are continuing the tradition to award outstanding students with the Dean’s Medallion.
The Dean’s Medallion is awarded to students whose academic achievement, service to community, and general
excellence have brought honor to the College.

Students who have a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or above are invited to be a candidate for the Laney College
Dean’s Medallion for the 2012-2013 academic year. Candidates must have completed their academic course work
at Laney College during one of the following semesters: Summer 2012, Fall 2012, or Spring 2013.

If you would like to be considered for the award, you must meet the above criteria and intend to participate in the
2013 commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 25th at 10:00 A.M.

The instructions for applying for this award are:

Required:
1. Thoroughly complete the enclosed application, which allows you to introduce yourself. (Remember to
type or write the answers legibly)
2. Highlight your personal accomplishments, community activities as well as any special challenges you
have had to overcome to complete your degree or certificate.
Optional
3. Submit a resume or portfolio of your personal accomplishments and academic achievements.

Please submit your completed application to the Office of Academic and Student Affairs (located in EV1) no later
than 5:00 PM, Friday, May 3, 2013. The Vice Presidents and Deans will review your application. There will be
five Dean’s Medallions awarded in total.
