RESOLUTION TO APPROVE PRIMARY CHARGE OF DISTANCE EDUCATION COMMITTEE
Whereas the Laney College Academic Senate voted to create a Distance Education Committee as a standing Committee of the Senate;
Whereas training on Distance Education technology and pedagogy are important to ensure a smooth transition to Canvas and to improve DE offerings overall;
Whereas Laney College needs better processes and accountability, and more resources for distance education;
Be it resolved that the Laney College Distance Education Committee will serve as the college’s primary recommending body on matters related to distance education – specifically, focusing on supporting excellence in distance education teaching and learning; recommending policies, procedures, and resources to support effective, innovative, and equitable distance education at Laney College; and ensuring that Laney College distance education classes meet federal, state, and accreditation standards.
