Welcome to the site for Latta’s English classes at Laney College. I have two messages for all my students and any prospective students visiting this site:
1. You are in the right place
Attending a community college is your right. You belong here. Just bring your own brilliance, talents, and curiosity.
2. Your voice matters
I know that few of you are planning to be English majors, and I am sure that many of you have had traumatic experiences in English class before, when you received a paper back from a teacher dripping in red ink. I want you to know that I am not going to allow any grammatical mistakes or differences in dialect to get in the way of your meaning in writing. I am deeply interested in what you have to say, and I believe that the college (and the rest of the world) needs to pay attention to your voice and experience.
