Beginning Professional Photography

Course Number: PHOTO 220A-B-C-D
Units: 2 each section.
Class: 1 hour lecture, 3 hours laboratory
Prerequisite for 220A: Photo 10 (Basic Photography) or Photo 70: Introduction to Digital Photography or Photo 10: Basic Film
Prerequisite for 220B: Photo 220A (Beginning Pro)
Prerequisite for 220C: Photo 220B (Beginning Pro)
Prerequisite for 220D: Photo 220C (Beginning Pro)

 

Spring & Fall Semesters

Description: Introduction to vocational photography. Improve your camera skills or pursue a career as a professional photographer with both digital and film mediums. Emphasis on the fundamentals of camera capture, basic lighting with artificial and available light. Improve your photography using industry practices in the commercial, portraiture, event, wedding, photojournalism, fine art and fashion markets.

Intermediate Professional Photography

Description: Intermediate photography concentrating on production practices.  Digital capture and processing. Advanced studio and location lighting. Photography as a business and establishing a workflow. Developing Real Time assignments as they apply to different photography markets: editorial, advertising, event, portraiture, wedding, fashion and photojournalism.

Advanced Professional Photography

Class: 1 hour lecture, 3 hours laboratory

Description: Advanced level of photography designed for students to develop their individual style and portfolio. Concentrating on the aesthetics and professional quality of their photography. Working as a professional photographer on real time assignments both individually and as a team. Mastering your digital medium in the different photography markets: commercial, documentation, editorial, advertising, portraiture, fashion and photojournalism.
