The East Bay Consortium was founded to develop and improve educational opportunities for students in the East Bay.

OCA National Scholarship Program

National Directory for Scholarships, Internships, and Fellowships for Asian and Pacific Islander Students

The Asian American Studies Program of the University of Maryland at College Park has teamed up with JACL, OCA, and State Farm to develop the 2009-2011 National Directory of Scholarships, Internships, and Fellowships for Asian American and Pacific Islander Students. The Directory provides a 140-page, full-color description of the mission, criteria, award amount, period, application deadline, and contact information of each scholarship, internship, and fellowship for Asian American and Pacific Islander students.

Asian Pacific Community Fund

The Asian Pacific Community Fund partners with Verizon to financially assist students in their pursuit of higher education as they face the challenge of significantly rising costs of obtaining a college degree. $1,000 scholarships, due March 30th!

Japanese American Citizens League

The JACL has been helping students achieve their educational dreams with the National Scholarship and Awards Program since 1946.  The program currently offers over 30 awards, with an annual total of over $60,000 in scholarships to qualified students nationwide. Must be JACL member (but not necessarily of Japanese ancestry).

Asian Pacific Fund

The Asian Pacific Fund is a community foundation established to improve the health and well-being of all Asian Americans in the Bay Area.Since 1993, the Fund has distributed $5.0 million in grants, scholarships and awards.

Phi Theta Kappa – Hites Scholarship

Students enrolled in community colleges who demonstrate high academic achievement and desire to transfer to a regionally accredited baccalaureate degree-granting senior institution are eligible to apply. Up to $7,500 and open to students regardless of immigration status.

The Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund (APIASF) is the nation’s largest 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides scholarships to Asian and Pacific Islander Americans (APIAs) with financial need.

Beware of Scholarship Scams

Be wary of scholarship applications that require an “application fee.”  Also proceed with caution with scholarship matching services that guarantee results and sales pitches that describe themselves as financial aid workshops or seminars.
