Art Exhibit Showcases Works from Artists of African Descent
(OAKLAND, CA) From April 16 to May 17, Laney College’s June Steingart Gallery will present a new exhibit: “Art in the Key of Life.” The exhibit features the artwork of six East Bay-based artists of African descent:
David Graves
Lorraine Bonner
Paul Lewin
Pablo Soto Campoamor
Joshua Whitaker
Charles Blackwell
Paintings and sculptures on display aim to celebrate the transcendental powers of music, love, and spirituality.
“This exhibit shows a small portion of a huge body of work these exceptional artists of African descent represent and I hope people will come meet the artists at the opening reception and explore more of their work,” said Pamela Wallace, one of the exhibit coordinators and the director of Laney’s BEST Center.
The exhibit is free and open to the public.
An opening reception with the artists will be held on April 20 from 4 to 7 p.m.
