PG&E Planned Public Safety Power Shutdowns: Laney College to Remain Open

PG&E Planned Public Safety Power Shutdowns: Laney College to Remain Open

PG&E advised Alameda County that they will be shutting off power starting Wednesday to 600,000 people in select areas of Northern California, including 35,000 customers in Alameda County, where the total population is 1.6 million people. This power shutoff is planned due to concerns about fire danger to power lines in California. For an up-to-date map of the potential outage area, visit PG&E’s website:  https://www.pge.com/en_US/safety/emergency-preparedness/natural-disaster/wildfires/psps-event-maps.page

Based on the latest PG&E Map (copy below) and our assigned PG&E manager, there are currently no planned outages that will affect Laney College.  Merritt College will be impacted and the college/district is working on sending notifications to students and employees.  Please check the Merritt College website and your college email for more detailed information.

As things may change, please continue to check the Laney College website and your college email for any updated notifications.
