Hello Laney Community! I am a passionate, resourceful counselor with over 16 years of experience in the field of counseling and career development.  Before coming to Laney, I worked at the UC Berkeley Career Center as both a Career Counselor and Assistant Director in the Counseling & Programs area.  I hold an M.S. in Counseling with a focus on Career & College Student Counseling, as well as a B.S. in Hospitality Management, both from San Francisco State University.  Before becoming a counselor I had a successful career in event planning and catering and worked for a number of event venues throughout the Bay Area including the Oakland Museum and the Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center (before it closed) –  so FUN!

When I’m not at work I enjoy spending time with family, including my two kiddos and my cats who keep my on my toes. I also love to get outdoors, dance and listen to dance music, go running along Alameda Beach, cook, and watch movies and SF Giants baseball. I’m a long time East Bay resident and have lived in Alameda since 2003. I am passionate about career development and look forward to helping you during your educational journey, whether it be selecting a major or career, developing a Student Education Plan (SEP), and/or working on resume writing and interview skills for your job search.

While I enjoy working with students of ALL majors, I especially love helping students with transfer applications and personal statements (PIQ’s for UC), and have lots of experience working with the following majors: pre-nursing/pre-health, social sciences (psychology, sociology, ethnic studies, etc.), Humanities (Art, English, etc.) and Business Administration students. I look forward to working with you soon to help you on your path towards success!
