The Difference Between SLO’s and ILO’s

The Difference Between SLO’s and ILO’s

SLOs are:

Knowledge, skills, abilities, and attitudes that a student has attained at the end (or as a result) of his or her engagement and attendance in a particular course.”

ILOs describe:

the general knowledge, skills, attitudes/beliefs/values that belong on the Laney student palette. In other words, what we wish our students to know or be able to do as a result of being a student at Laney, and the core beliefs and values we want Laney students to hold.

WHY do we assess SLOs/ILOs?

Because we want to improve student learning in ways that we can document and measure and have them become successful in their future endeavors.  We also want to remain an accredited institution.
