Broadcast Media Announcing and Performance Classes

Media 100 A – Introduction to broadcast media announcing and performance: Techniques of voice and movement for television broadcasting, development of broadcast styles, preparation of programs; laboratory emphasis on rehearsal and performance, and evaluating work of others.

Media 100 B – Continuation of MEDIA 100A: Communicating from a written script to the television medium, and introduction to studio machinery; laboratory emphasis on wardrobe, props, music, sound effects, and lighting.
Both classes meet on Thursdays from 12:00 pm to 4:50 pm during the Spring 2014 semester in room 426 in the Odell Johnson Performing Arts Center at Laney College.

Instructor – Noemi Zeigler Sanchez

Rapper/Musician, Comedian, Filmmaker, and host of The Minx Mandate — a web show about the technological Singularity, AI, robotics, nano tech, Noemi Zeigler Sanchez, sometimes known as Madeline Minx, earned her MFA in Film Directing from the American Film Institute. She has optioned a TV series and feature film to Hollywood producer Wendy Kram (“Mad Money”). She is represented by STARS, The Agency for acting and voiceover work. Noemi is a founding team member of Bay Area premiere transmedia film festival Transbay Fest. She makes movies and music and teaches Film/Media courses at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and at Laney College in Oakland.

Fall 2014 Teaching Assistant – Carl Fritzsche

Sailing

Carl is volunteering as a Teaching Assistant for our class.  He feels extremely fortunate to be able to volunteer and give back to the community in which he lives.  Carl enjoys writing and editing and has been published in several technical and government journals   Most recently, he has had the opportunity to participate in several aspects of the film-making process, including story and character development, treatment and script writing, and auditioning actors.  He has also recently attended local screen and stage acting classes.  Carl is eager to work with students to help bring out their best writing and storytelling abilities.

Before retiring from his position (based in Southeast Asia) as the Health, Environment and Safety Manager for a major energy company, he worked in various capacities including emergency response, health & safety, hazardous materials transportation, shipping, marketing and government affairs.  He is a veteran of the US Air Force.

Carl attended Macon Junior College in Macon, Georgia, Grossmont Community College in El Cajon, California and the University of California, Davis, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Toxicology.
