The Peralta Community College District contracts its campus security services for Laney College with Marina Security and A-1 Security who provides security guards and dispatch services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

During regular business hours Marina Security has primary responsibility for investigation of all crimes on the Laney College Campus. After-hours and when campus is closed, A-1 Security has primary responsibility for the investigation of all crimes.  Oakland Police has the primary responsibility for investigation of all violent crimes as defined by the Cleary Act.

The Peralta Community College District has made the Blackboard Connect (Emergency Notification and Early Warning System) services available to instantly reach students, faculty, and staff in cases of major or catastrophic emergencies.  Mass text alerts to the campus community members will be sent in cases of major or catastrophic emergencies affecting the Peralta Community District, in whole or in part.

Marina Security maintains an incident log and reports all criminal activity to the appropriate law enforcement agencies and to the Director of Facilities and College Operations of Laney College. This information is compiled and the report is submitting annually to Peralta District General Services.
