Applying For A Sabbatical


Up to TWO sabbaticals may be awarded during the fall 2024 semester, with leave to be taken during the 2025-2026 academic year.

If you have served as a full-time faculty member for the past 6 years, you are eligible to apply.

  • Information Session — recommended, but not required, will be offered 
  • Applications due by November 15th, 2024.
  • Email your application to Heather Sisneros (
  • Awardees will be notified by January 31, 2023 (per PFT contract).

How to Apply:
1–If you’re interested in applying, please read both this Sabbatical Overview  and the three-page Sabbaticals section from the PFT Contract, which begins at Article 26, Paragraph R — on page 107 of the PDF.

2–Then use the Sabbatical Cover Sheet and Application  and attach a written proposal describing what project(s) and/or activity/ies you plan to accomplish with Sabbatical support. –The proposal, as well as any accompanying documents, such as letters of support from Laney or other institutions, does not need to ascribe to any fixed form. You decide the scope of the description. — Applications are due by 5pm on November 15th. All paperwork/materials must be EMAILED to Heather Sisneros (

Every October, the PD committee will host an information session about sabbaticals.  Please be on the look-out for emails with details.  In the meantime, here is a recording of a previous info session.
