Online Tutoring Services
All tutoring sessions are 30 minutes and will be available during spring semester Monday-Thursday 9am-6pm and Friday 9am-3pm. Peralta students who wish to request a tutoring session can follow the step-by-step instructions below.
First step: Students will need to fill out the Tutoring Sign-up Form HERE and submit it.
Second step: Students will send in their typed papers and their teacher’s assignment instructions (called a prompt) to the Writing Center’s email account “laneywritingtutors@peralta.edu”. Students will put their names and the title of their papers on the subject line of their email.
We will reply to your email within 24 hours during our regular operating hours. You will receive a confirmation email for your tutoring session, and information on using a computer to join your tutoring session using Zoom video conferencing software.

The Writing Center Drop-In Lab (room B260) is open for students to use the computer resources to type and print out their writing assignments. The fall semester hours are Monday-Thursday, 9am-6pm, and Friday, 9am-3pm.
The James Oliver Community Writing Center
The James Oliver Community Writing Center provides writing support to students that is part of a complete across-the-curriculum writing resource that aids matriculation by helping students have successful learning outcomes (SLOs).
The Writing Center Drop-In lab (room B260) provides students with computers to write their essay assignments, printing services (10 pages/day). Also, trained lab assistants will assist students with their service requests, and English tutors conduct one-on-one tutoring on a drop-in basis. In addition, the Writing Center supports supplemental instruction in the English and ESL departments through the scheduling of Writing Workshops in rooms B261 and B262.
The Writing Center Staff in room B258 consists of Terrence Fisher, Computer Network Technician, Pamela Crumpton, Instructional Assistant, and student workers (both Lab Assistants and English Tutors). Teachers can contact Terrence (510.464.3426) and or Pamela (510.464.3163) via email or phone to schedule lab orientations and instructional lab room usage in B261.
