On Saturday, April 26, 2025, Laney College proudly welcomed over 500 prospective students, parents, and community members to its Annual Career and Technical Education (CTE) Open House. The event, a vibrant celebration of opportunity and innovation, showcased Laney’s robust CTE programs — where passion meets purpose and dreams take flight.
Throughout the day, guests explored hands-on exhibits and demonstrations from Laney's wide range of CTE departments, including Architecture, Artificial Intelligence, Carpentry, Culinary Arts, Environmental Control Technology, Journalism, Welding Technology, and more. Faculty and current students engaged attendees with live demonstrations, workshops, and tours, providing an inside look at the pathways available through CTE education.
In addition to Laney’s faculty and staff, the event featured several industry and community partners, including local labor unions and businesses, who hosted informational tables. Their presence helped demonstrate how Laney’s certificates and degree programs serve as direct bridges to meaningful and rewarding careers.
The impact of the event was immediate: between Friday and Monday, Laney College enrolled 154 new students who registered for 232 courses — a strong indicator of the event’s success and the growing demand for career-focused education.
The success of the CTE Open House was made possible through the collaborative efforts of many on campus:
