Food, school spirit & a strong showing at Tom Pearse Diamond

Students, faculty, and staff came together at Tom Pearse Diamond for a pre-game tailgate as the Laney Eagles faced Napa Valley, turning a regular game into a full campus experience.

Hosted with support from the Associated Students of Laney College (ASLC) and the President’s Office, the event featured free hot dogs (both beef and vegan) and drinks served at the field entrance ahead of first pitch.

ASLC student leaders were front and center—serving food, welcoming attendees, and helping create a lively, inclusive atmosphere that brought the campus community together.

Behind the grill, Dean Albury kept things cooking while Judy Mei stepped in as sous chef, helping serve up hundreds of hot dogs and plenty of pre-game energy.

The event was made possible through collaboration across campus, with key support from:

  • The President’s Office and ASLC for sponsoring the event
  • ASLC student leaders for running food service and engaging the crowd
  • Facilities for coordinating setup and ensuring everything ran smoothly
  • The Laney Baseball team for welcoming the campus and making the event a true game-day experience

The result was more than just a tailgate—it was a reminder of the power of community on campus, where athletics, student leadership, and campus partners come together to create something bigger.

With several home games still ahead in April, the momentum continues.
