Class: Dance 8A Composition & Choreography
Performers: Jonathan Corley, Gideon Mekwunye, Tyriq Collins

Background: Choreography I students pay tribute to the late Dudley Williams (b. 1938, d. 2015), principal dancer with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, founded by Alvin Ailey (b.1931, d.1989). Inspired by Williams’ career longevity, strength and grace, students from Choreography I render a trio version of Mr. William’s original solo, “I Wanna Be Ready,” first performed in 1961 as part of Ailey’s Revelations-an iconic work reflecting the deepest emotions behind African American Negro spirituals.
