“The mission of this show is to create visibility and to encourage supporting sustainability for professional performing artists that make the SF Bay Area the cultured vibrant place that it is. I believe that JOY and the cultivation of community through shared magical experiences is as essential as any other foundational human need. When audience members enter into a space that has been carefully and intentionally created by artists, they are transported, inspired and able to connect with a community that also invests and prioritizes these same values. Folks are also able to be inspired and willing to explore their own embodied creativity through learning incredible skills themselves, building empowerment, confidence, strength and new friendships. Art is worth an exchange of value. We love making art, and art is work. I dream of being able to have the efforts of artists valued similarly to other fields that allow for professionals to take care of their families, own property and exhale into a sense of sustenance. I encourage the spectators of this exhibit to invest in the shared experiences that make life sweeter, that give us a break from the everyday grind. I invite you to giggle, be in awe, get inspired and to come make a new friend at the upcoming festival on the water, Secrets of the Sea at Forbes Island.” – Nikki Borodi

Nikki Borodi is a Bay Area-based queer, acro-phenom, musician, songwriter, filmmaker, educator and producer. Borodi dazzles

audiences by combining her unique vocal stylings and acrobatic talents during her signature “Acrolele” performances where she sings and plays

ukulele while doing acrobatics. “Acrolele” is an astounding demonstration of human potentiality that transcends perceived impossibility. Her message can be felt through every show she gives-we have the power to transform fears into light and to live as our most authentic selves. Her work inspires others to embrace diverse identities and dive into spaces of vulnerable exploration. Some of Nikki’s recent performances include ABC’s The Gong Show, Italy’s Got Talent, Germany’s Got Talent, TedxBerkeley, SF Moma, Google, The Oakland Museum, Oakland Parks and Recreation, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, SF Dyke March, SF Pride Main Stage, SF Pride City Hall, The Contemporary Jewish Museum, The New Parish, Maker’s Faire and Lucas Films. Borodi has been featured in Curve, the premiere lesbian magazine for Femmes on Mars. Borodi is honored to be an alumni artist in residence at Montalvo Art Center, a current creative in residence at The Battery SF and former Artistic Director for Oakland’s enchanted theatre The LAMA Shack.
