Stop by the Queeros Poster exhibit at the Tower Building Lobby. Check out and learn about members of the LGBTQ community and supportive allies who contribute (or contributed) to our world with important technology, art, inventions, literature, and more.
FabLab Fun
Monday, Oct. 8
@ 10:30 a.m. @ FabLab
Join us to observe or participate in the making of National Coming Out Week pins and buttons. We’ll be using laser cutters! This is also an opportunity to learn more about the FabLab and how cool it is.
Movie Night
Tuesday, Oct. 9 @ 4 p.m. in B-210
Join us for the screening of “Out in the Open: A Celebration of the LGBTQ Community.” We’ll have popcorn and food! Check out this great documentary!
Laney Queers Brunch
Wednesday, Oct. 10 @ 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in SC-401A
Brunch was championed by gays in New York City (circa, the late 70s). It was a way to wake up late after a long night at the club and still be able to enjoy a fancy breakfast (and lunch). Brunch was also popularized by the HBO show “Sex & The City,” starring Sarah Jessica Parker and Cynthia Nixon (the red-headed, Harvard lawyer who in real life is a lesbian and is currently running for Governor of New York). Join Laney Queers for the celebration of this sophisticated tradition. Food will be served (of course).
Celebrate National Coming Out Day
Thursday, Oct. 11 @ 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. @ the Laney Quad
Everyone is welcome to stop by the tables and learn more about the LGBTQ community and the new student club on campus – Laney Queers. There will be balloons, a chance to have your Coming Out Day photo taken, music, and other cool activities.
Night @ The Museum
Friday, Oct. 12 @ Meet at flag pole at 5 p.m.
Join us for an evening at “Friday Nights at the Oakland Museum.” We’ll meet at Laney and walk together to the museum. We’ll stop by the food trucks, take a tour of the museum, and more!
