Welcome to my Janelle’s homepage!
Hello! I have been enthusiastically serving the Laney College community since 2011. I am passionate about informing students of the ways in which community college can be an institution of transformation and economic mobility in their lives. I hold an Associate of Arts degree in Individual Studies from Foothill College, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish with a minor in Chicana & Chicano Studies from UCLA, and a Master of Science in College Student Personnel and School (K-12) Counseling from San Francisco State University.
I currently teach Counseling 24, College Success for the Umoja-Ubaka Learning community and Counseling 201, Orientation to College, at Dewey Academy in the Oakland Unified School District. I have counseled and taught Counseling 224, College Preparedness, in the Gateway to College and Puente Programs and I also previously served as the advisor to the Laney Black Student Union, a student club.
I invite you to explore the challenging and rewarding path to your future by scheduling an appointment in Laney Counseling Department by calling 510.464.3152, or scheduling an appointment online.
