Nathaniel Pyle (npyle@peralta.edu)

Dr. Nathaniel C. Pyle was born in Fargo, North Dakota, and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, in 2005. He then attended graduate school at the University of California Santa Barbara for his Masters and PhD in sociology. His specializations include gender and sexuality, social movements, and cultural studies. He finished his graduate work in 2012.
Nat worked as a part-time professor of sociology at Santa Barbara City College from 2011 to 2015 before joining the Full Time Faculty here in the Peralta District at Laney College Fall Semester, 2015. He teaches Introduction to Sociology as well as Crime and Deviance and Social Stratification. He is also involved with raising LGBTQ+ awareness on campus as a member of the Lavender Project in the District as well as advising the Laney LGBTQ+ student group.
