Keynote Speaker – “Manufacturing in America”

Ro Khanna. Author of “Entrepreneurial Nation – Why Manufacturing is Still Key to America’s Future”.  If you trust what you hear in the news, America is in trouble. We’ve moved our manufacturing overseas. We’ve lost our competitive edge to China, Germany, Japan, and Brazil. We’ve entered our final days as an economic leader. Don’t believe it! Mr. Khanna will debunk these myths and reinforce your faith in American ingenuity. He will take you inside Washington’s economic think tanks and onto the front lines of the most innovative companies in the nation.

Ro Khanna spent two years as deputy assistant secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce, where he worked with the country’s most influential business and labor leaders to rebuild the nation’s manufacturing sector and increase American exports. He also served on the White House Business Council. Khanna is now a visiting lecturer in the Department of Economics at Stanford University and a technology attorney at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.

Industry Panel – “Reshoring / Onshoring and the skills needed for today’s employees”

We will hear front line stories from local companies on their experiences with reshoring jobs to the U.S. – and what skills they are looking for in their employees to continue bringing jobs back.

Education Panel – “Industry & Schools Working Together”

During this panel session we will hear about the state of manufacturing education, what industry needs from schools, and how industry can help educators.

Afternoon Break-Out Sessions

Sessions on online training, stackable credentials and preparing the underprepared students. While these sessions are targeted towards educators, all are welcome to attend.
