Core Principles of Student Rights & Responsibilities in Education
Laney College is dedicated to maintaining an educational environment that promotes equity, mutual respect, and remains free from interference and disruption. Concerns, complaints, grievances, or disciplinary matters are generally expected to be resolved at the campus or district level.
The following administrative processes are available to individuals who have concerns, believe they have been treated unfairly, or feel that their rights have been violated:

- Responding to Harassment Based on Sex Under Title-IX AP 3434
- Grade Changes and Student Grievance Procedures AP 4231
- Student Standards of Conduct, Discipline Procedures, and Due Process AP 5500
- Student Rights and Grievance Procedure AP 5530
- Disabled Students Programs and Services AP 5140
- Nondiscrimination AP 3410
Individuals are strongly encouraged to make every attempt to resolve matters through the appropriate administrative processes described above.

Student Grievance Procedures and Forms:
Employee grievances based on unlawful discrimination and/or harassment are filed at the Peralta Community College District Employee Relations Office.

Concerns of discrimination or harassment should be reported to the appropriate departments.

Matters that are not resolved internally may be processed by using the following agencies in the order described below. If your complaint does not concern the California Community College’s compliance with academic program quality and accrediting standards, you may contact the California Community College Chancellor’s Office (CCCCO) by completing this CCCCO web form.
Contact the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) if your complaint is associated with the institution’s compliance with academic program quality and accrediting standards. ACCJC is the agency that accredits the academic programs of the California Community Colleges.
