Take Laney College Classes While You Are Still in High School

Whether you want to get a head start on college, earn college credit alongside high school credit, or make up high school credits, our High School programs provide both on- and off-campus classes to help you achieve your goals.

Dual Enrollment Program

Laney College’s Dual Enrollment program offers high school students the opportunity to take Laney College courses at no cost!

Laney College has partnered with the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) and other selected local high schools to provide access to college-level classes for high school students. By participating in Dual Enrollment, you can get a head start on your career and even graduate from college ahead of schedule.

Consult your high school counselor to learn about the available classes and the enrollment process.

Concurrent Enrollment

Are you a high school or homeschooled student interested in taking classes at Laney College? Earn high school and college credit at the same time with college-level courses.

Whether you want to jumpstart your career, get an early start on higher education, or earn dual credits for high school and college, Laney College offers a diverse range of on-campus and off-campus programs, services, and activities designed to help you meet your educational goals.

Under the concurrent enrollment program, classes are free for high school students (except for international students, including F1, B1/B2, and J1 VISA holders).

High School Diploma Program

Do you want to finish high school?

In partnership with Oakland Adult & Career Education, the Laney Adult Education Program has brought General Education Development/Diploma (GED) classes to the Laney College Campus.

Open enrollment is year-round and students can start anytime. GED classes are free and students enrolled in GED classes can take college classes for free.

For more information about the classes, including schedule and registration details, complete this form and we will get back to you.

High School Credit Recovery

If you’re short on credits needed to graduate from high school, OACE’s High School Credit Recovery program can help!

In collaboration with Oakland Adult & Career Education (OACE), Laney College’s Adult Education Department offers credit recovery classes to help current high school students stay on track for graduation.

You can enroll in the necessary classes to fulfill graduation requirements, retake courses you previously didn’t pass, or improve your grades. Best of all, our classes are FREE for all students!

Gateway to College

Gateway to College is an alternative high school at Laney College that provides Bay Area students with an opportunity to experience success in an academically rigorous, supportive, and safe environment as they pursue their high school diplomas and transition into college through concurrent enrollment.

Gateway has partnered with Oakland Unified School District and Peralta Community Colleges since 2009.  The program provides “At Promise” Alameda County students with the resources and mentorship needed to recover credits while concurrently taking transferable college courses.

Additional programming provides students with the opportunity to attend field trips, skills work shops, and participate in student life on the Laney campus.
