Math Contest

The AMATYC (American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges) Student Mathematics League mathematics contest is a national competition open to any student who has not earned a two-year degree or higher.  Part-time students are eligible.

The competition is comprised of two examinations, Round 1 and Round 2, administered locally at each college during a period in October/November (for Round 1) and February/March (for Round 2).  Each examination lasts for one hour.   The top five contestants from each college on each exam comprise that college’s team, with the team composition allowed to change from one round to the next.  The sum of the five scores forms that college’s team score on the particular round.  Colleges compete in terms of the total team score from the two rounds, while the competition also takes place at the individual contestant level in terms of individual total score from the two rounds.
