Our Mission . . .

The Laney CalWORKs program, aims to positively transition students into the workforce with a sense of personal development that will guide them towards their definition of success.

The Program:

The Laney CalWORKs Program “LaneyWORKs” is dedicated to providing a wealth of support services to ensure each student achieves academic success!  Our goal is employment; to assist CalWORKs students to transition from public assistance to economic self-sufficiency.  Since 1998, Laney College has taught, trained, counseled and helped students on Temporary Aid to Needy Families (TANF) find a job through its CalWORKs Program.  “When people become self-supporting, they and their children will enjoy a higher income and a better way of life.

LaneyWORKs continues to provide academic counseling, workforce development and job readiness training, as well as, supportive services such as: Child Care, Counseling and Work Experience (WEX) based on labor market demands to ensure that students develop efficient skills and work ethic needed for today’s work force.  Although CalWORKs’ emphasis is immediate employment, it still provides many participants the opportunity to acquire skills to become technicians, salespersons, assemblers or any of the many professional occupations.  Laney College provides a variety of A.A./ A.S. and Certificated programming through curriculum that compliments current labor market trends; the course & program listing illustrated below are Alameda County approved.
