California Community Colleges Energy Efficiency and HVAC Symposium
On March 20, 2009, Laney hosted the first California Community Colleges Energy Efficiency and HVAC Symposium. 200 industry leaders, professionals, and educators – representing over 80 industry representatives, industry associations, community-based organizations, unions, university institutes, and high schools, 29 community colleges and 10 regional and state-wide community college centers, participated in this successful day.
The day was filled with practical information on market and technology trends, policy and funding updates, required skill-sets for an energy efficient workforce, curriculum dialogue, and networking opportunities. Key symposium collaborators included Laney faculty and staff, the Bay Area Environmental Training Center/ETC Initiative, the CCC Economic and Workforce Development Division, the CCC Centers of Excellence (San Francisco and Silicon Valley), PG&E, energy-efficiency and HVAC career & technical education programs across the State and beyond, the New Energy Workforce Initiative, the Bay Area Community Colleges Consortium, Southern California Edison, the California Energy Commission, the California Public Utilities Commission, the California Lighting Technology Center and Western Cooling Efficiency Centers, UC Davis, and industry and community partners.
