Johnson Controls Scholarship

Environmental Controls Technology (ECT) Students,

Laney College has received a $100,000 grant as part of the Johnson Controls Community College Partnership program. Johnson Controls, a leading company in building efficiency, provided the grant in an effort to expand Associate degree and Certificate programs in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR),and building automation systems (BAS), all areas where the U.S. Bureau of Labor is predicting a high demand for technical and skilled trades expertise in the coming years. This partnership aims to increase workforce opportunities for qualified students enrolled in the ECT Certificate or Associates programs.

The grant offers two wonderful opportunities for ECT students:

1. Scholarship:

New students up to $1,000 per student

  • Successfully complete the Johnson Controls Scholarship Application: Johnson Controls Scholarship Application
  • Enrollment in Laney’s Environmental Control Technology Program, with at least four (4) ECT course units currently undertaken.
  • Achieve a satisfactory grade by the close of the semester.

Returning students up to $1,500 per student

  • Successfully complete the Johnson Controls Scholarship Application: Johnson Controls Scholarship Application
  • Enrollment in Laney’s Environmental Control Technology Program, with at least four (4) ECT course units currently undertaken.
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.00 in ECT courses.
2. Emergency Aid up to $500

Completed Peralta Colleges Foundation: Johnson Controls Emergency Student Aid Application 2023-2024
Enrolled in Laney’s Environmental Control Technology Program (Currently enrolled in at least four (4) ECT course units.)
The student is very likely to stop attending school if the funds are not approved or are unavailable.
Provide a copy of the aid request receipt/documentation of the emergency (e.g., a car repair estimate from the auto repair facility, a letter from the childcare provider, etc.)
