Hello, Environmental Control Technology (ECT) Students,
I am honored to announce that Laney College has received a $100,000 grant as part of the Johnson Controls Community College Partnership program. Johnson Controls, a leading company in building efficiency, provided the grant in an effort to expand associate degree and certificate programs in heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), fire and security, and digital building automation systems, all areas where the U.S. Bureau of Labor is predicting an increased need for skilled trades expertise in the coming years. In general, the funding will support the outreach and retention efforts of Laney’s Environmental Control Technology (ECT) program.
The grant offers two wonderful opportunities for ECT students:
1. Scholarship: $1,000 per student
Eligibility Requirements:
Completed Peralta Colleges Foundation: Johnson Controls Scholarship Application
Enrolled in Laney’s Environment Control Technology Program (currently enrolled in at least six (6) ECT course units)
GPA in ECT courses > = 2.00
Demonstrated financial need
2. Emergency Aid not to exceed $500
Eligibility requirements:
Completed Peralta Colleges Foundation: Johnson Controls Emergency Student Aid Application 2022-2023
Enrolled in Laney’s Environmental Control Technology Program (Currently enrolled in at least six (6) ECT course units.)
The student is very likely to stop attending school if the funds are not approved or are unavailable.
Provide a copy of the aid request receipt/documentation of the emergency (e.g., a car repair estimate from the auto repair facility, a letter from the childcare provider, etc.)
We strongly encourage all students to apply for one or both opportunities if applicable to you.
