Laney College President Sworn In to Oakland Workforce Development Board

Laney College is proud to announce that President Rebecca Opsata has been sworn in as a member of the Oakland Workforce Development Board (WDB). Her appointment marks an important step in strengthening the connection between Peralta Community College District campuses and local workforce initiatives.

Comprised of leaders from business, education, and community organizations, the board helps shape how public funds and partnerships are used to prepare residents for quality careers.

President Opsata brings the unique perspective of the community college system—ensuring that local training aligns with the real needs of employers and the aspirations of students.

This appointment reflects the strong role Laney College plays in the regional workforce landscape. It’s an opportunity to represent our students—many of whom are already working or seeking work—and ensure that the programs we offer are closely aligned with the skills employers need.
