Marti Cilley Artist Statement:

“Welcome to my “Kaligraphy” collection, a journey into the world of visual storytelling through abstract brushstrokes that merge with the grace of calligraphic writing. These compositions invite you to immerse yourself in the elegance, precision and richness of calligraphic art. Each piece is a unique exploration of language, symbolism and the connection between word and image.

Intending the calligraphic elements to shine, I’ve precision-crafted each stroke, balancing positive and negative space. With ink and brush, I explore the nuances of shape and line, creating a symphony of characters and symbols that transcend linguistic boundaries.

Cohesion is essential in this collection. Consistency of style and the deliberate choice of a minimalist color palette ensure that each piece complements the others. This harmony aims to provide a contemplative and meditative experience.

I personally extend an invitation to my Kaligraphy collection, where I have poured my passion for the written word into each stroke. As you view the intricate dance of paint and ink on canvas, you might decipher hidden meanings of characters and find your own poetic connections. May you discover beauty in the diversity of marks and intrigue in the timelessness of written expression.”
