Foundation Skills Pathway Program

Foundation Skills Pathway Program

The Foundation Skills Pathway (FSP) program is a new Learning Community at Laney College. FSP is a 1 year basic skills learning community consisting of a pre-semester meet and greet and a blocked set of courses. Our goal is to create an introduction to college education for all students who qualify. We will help students master basic reading, writing, math and college success skills so that they can proceed through mainstream college/vocational course work and achieve their educational goals.

FSP is a multi-disciplinary education program with in-program counseling, advising and tutor support. FSP’s purpose is to improve students’ learning outcomes, core competencies, and life successes.

The main goal of FSP is assisting students in transitioning into college level classes and programs (academic and vocational), as well as helping them make progress toward life skills, family-sustaining employment and civic participation.
