Public Debate – Speech, Forensic Debate & Leadership Club

Join Laney College’s Speech, Forensic Debate & Leadership Club for a live public debate in the Quad. Students will engage in thoughtful discussion on timely topics, including the role of AI in academic settings and whether traditional gender roles remain relevant.
This event highlights the impact of student engagement beyond the classroom. Club members have recently celebrated major academic achievements, including acceptances to the University of California in fields such as Law and Psychology—demonstrating how participation in speech and debate builds confidence, strengthens critical thinking, and supports academic success.
The event will also feature an interactive component, with a surprise activity planned for attendees.
All students, faculty, staff, and community members are encouraged to attend and support our students.
Second Chance Film Festival

The Bengali: Film Screening & Panel Discussion

Join Laney College for The Bengali, a film that explores the history of early South Asian immigrants who formed families and communities within African American neighborhoods in the United States. Presented as part of the Under Our Sun Impact Campaign, the event highlights the shared histories that connect our communities.
