Laney College proudly honored its outstanding students at the annual Honors and Awards Ceremony, held in celebration of the Class of 2025. The event recognized academic excellence, leadership, and community service across a variety of programs and departments.
Laney College Celebrates Academic Excellence at Honors & Awards Ceremony
The ceremony opened with a welcome address, followed by remarks from keynote speaker Mark Rauzon, geography professor, whose reflections encouraged students to carry their achievements forward with purpose and passion.
Laney’s vice president of student services, Dr. Lily Espinoza, introduced this year’s valedictorian and salutatorian, commending their academic accomplishments and contributions to the college community.
One of the most anticipated moments of the event was the presentation of the Dean’s Medallion Awards, where Laney's division deans honored students who demonstrated exceptional academic performance and leadership in their fields of study.

The event concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Opsata, who offered heartfelt congratulations to all honorees and expressed deep pride in the achievements of the Class of 2025.
Decorated with floral accents and Laney’s green and gold, the ceremony was a vibrant celebration of student success and the college’s ongoing commitment to academic achievement.
