Graduation FAQs
-
Q: How do I know if I am eligible to graduate?
A: If you filed your petition to graduate and it was approved by a counselor, you may participate in graduation.
~
Q: I am not sure if my name is on the Grad List, how can I ensure that my name will be called?
A: Laney College does not read from a list of Graduates during the ceremony. Each graduate fills out a GRAD Card, complete with Name, Major/Degree/Certificate, and contact information.
You will hold this card until it is time for you to approach the stage. As you enter the stage you will give this card to the “Card Reader” and they will announce your name and awards as you walk towards the podium.
~
Q: Why do graduates need to arrive at Graduation at 9 am?
A: To have time to complete your GRAD Card, have a light breakfast, get last-minute regalia, and take a bathroom break before we enter the field, at 9:00 am sharp!
~
Q: When will I receive my degree/certificate?
A: Graduates may receive their degrees/certificates from the Office of Admissions & Records in August.
~
Q: What is the earliest that families/friends can arrive at Graduation?
A: Families may arrive at Graduation, and be seated as early as 9 am.
