Student Code of Conduct
Laney College expects all students to uphold standards of respect, integrity, and responsibility. The Student Code of Conduct outlines the behaviors that protect our learning environment and the processes we use when those standards are not met.
Posting Materials on Campus
Students are welcome to share information and promote events, but all flyers, posters, and postings must follow the college’s guidelines.
Prohibited Behaviors
The following actions may result in disciplinary action under the Code of Conduct:

Academic dishonesty (cheating, plagiarism, falsification)

Harassment, discrimination, or threats toward others

Physical violence or intimidation

Sexual misconduct (covered under Title IX)

Theft, vandalism, or destruction of property

Alcohol or drug use on campus or at college events

Misuse of technology, including hacking or unauthorized access

Repeated disruption of classes or campus activities
The Conduct Process
If a conduct concern is reported:

Report Filed – An incident is submitted through our secure online reporting system.

Review – A Dean reviews the report.

Meeting – The student is invited to meet and share their perspective.

Decision – Outcomes may include warnings, educational sanctions, suspension, or dismissal (depending on severity).

Appeal – Students have the right to appeal decisions through the district process. Refer to Administrative Procedure 5500 – Student Standards of Conduct, Discipline Procedures, and Due Process
