English, ESOL, and Math Placement

Laney has a number of ways that you can find which level of English, English for Speakers of Other Languages, or Math class is right for you.

For English and Math Placement:

• Option 1: Use Laney Counseling’s online Prerequisite Clearance Process here.
• Option 2: Meet with a Laney Counselor to discuss your placement options. Be sure to have your transcripts from colleges outside of Peralta ready to share during your appointment.

For English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Classes:

1. First, use Laney’s Self-Guided Placement tool to determine your ESOL level.
2. Then, schedule a Laney Counseling appointment to understand your results and find our which classes you can sign up for.
